Wedding Band Takes the Stage

Costume Designer and Associate Professor of Theater Chris Flaharty fits sophomore Will Osborn, who plays Shrimp Man in Wedding Band, for his costume. A play by Alice Childress, Wedding Band tells the story of an African American woman and her white suitor as they deal with the prejudices of their fellow South Carolinians in early 20th-century America. See performances of Wedding Band directed by Assistant Professor of Theater Justin Emeka ’95 on October 1, 2, and 3 at 7:30 p.m. and October 4 at 2 p.m. in Hall Auditorium.

After a five minute delay to the start of the program, Public Services Librarian Kathleen Abromeit inches her way to the back of the conservatory library, then pauses. “Should we give it another five minutes,” she asks, looking around the room. She’s excited. After a two-year hiatus Abromeit will announce the library’s first Tiny Ref Desk Concert. The program’s return also serves as inspiration for this week’s photo series.
