Office of Wellness on Nutrition and Exercise

Beginning Monday, February 24, the Office of Wellness will host Feed It–Move It, a week-long series of events designed to inform on-campus community members about how their eating habits affect their overall health and well being. Programs during the week such activities as dancing, yoga, and climbing and talks and discussions about the politics of food, the role food plays in our moods, and how it affects our overall health and well being.

The programming was organized in large part by fourth-year Colin Doyle, the wellness office’s fitness peer health advocate, and second-year Gabriela Goldsmith, the nutrition peer health advocate. “There are a vast number of positive effects that eating right and staying fit can have on your body and on your life,” says Doyle. "We hope that the opportunities this week has to offer can help everyone find a way to eat right and stay fit at Oberlin."

"Oberlin College has resources for staff and students in terms of accessible fitness resources and healthy foods,” says Lori Morgan Flood, associate dean and director of wellness. “We want the campus community to celebrate our shared vision of improving health. Wellness is a process, not an outcome.”

Film Screening: *Food Matters* Tuesday, Feb 25th, 7 p.m., Dye Lecture Hall The 2008 documentary film purports that a selective diet can play a key role in treating a range of health conditions such as diabetes, cancer, heart disease and depression, often substituting for medical treatment.

Afternoon at the Climbing Wall Tuesday, Feb 25, 7 to 9 p.m., Oberlin Climbing Wall (Phillips) Don't worry about bringing gear, we have it all here, and one of our student instructors will give you a belay!

Meet the 2022 Student Commencement Speaker

On Sunday, June 5, Oberlin College will celebrate the Class of 2022 with a Commencement ceremony on Tappan Square beginning at 9:30 a.m. Cyril Amanfo ’22, a neuroscience and theater major, was selected by the Commencement Class Speaker Search Committee to address the graduating class.
