Lily Bryant ‘14 is majoring in history with a minor in politics. Bryant has been awarded the Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Colombia. She has previous travel experience in Latin America, having visited Peru, Chile, and Argentina, but Colombia will be new territory. “I am excited to explore Colombia's diverse geography of mountains, forests and beaches,” says Bryant, who is from Pasadena, California. “ I'm also excited to experience the current development of the city of Medellín and its transformation since the end of the drug wars.”

Bryant studied abroad in Chile during her junior year. Before that, she took a gap year between high school and Oberlin in which she taught English in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

She is a mentor/tutor at Oberlin High School with the Ninde Scholars program. She says she plans to attend graduate school to study human rights law and/or education policy.
