OBERLIN—On Saturday, September 1, 2018, Oberlin College first-year, transfer, and returning students, as well as faculty and staff will engage in community service throughout Lorain County as part of the college’s annual Day of Service. The event is sponsored by the Oberlin College Bonner Center and takes place during new student orientation week. Day of Service not only brings the Oberlin College community together through service projects, but also familiarizes new students with the greater Oberlin community.
This year’s Day of Service will begin with a morning orientation to Lorain County led by Bonner Center staff in the Carnegie Building Root Room. In the afternoon, students will disperse to over 15 local organizations, including Oberlin Community Services, Kendal at Oberlin, the DuBois Project, and Firelands Association for the Visual Arts (FAVA).
Day of Service 2017 brought together more than 200 Oberlin College students and staff who collectively contributed 400 total service hours in Oberlin and Lorain County service sites combined.
