On Friday, October 4, eighth blackbird, the three-time Grammy winning contemporary chamber music ensemble founded by conservatory alumni, joined the Contemporary Music Ensemble in a performance featuring original works by Oberlin faculty members Tom Lopez and Peter Swendsen, as well as composer-in-residence Benjamin Broening.

Three of the world’s most promising young violinists will perform July 26 with the Cleveland Orchestra. Only one will be named champion of the 2013 Cooper International Competition.

The competition has intensified on the Oberlin campus, where the field of participants in the 2013 Cooper International Competition has been narrowed from 24 to six.

On Sunday, June 2, the Oberlin Community Music School wrapped up its 10th anniversary celebrations with a Mega Musical Mashup that brought Oberlin’s musical organizations to Tappan Square for community merrymaking. Watch a video from the festivities.
