Biography
As a staff psychologist, I aim to never take for granted how much of a privilege it is to have clients share their stories and experiences with me. I help clients by prioritizing safety, authenticity, and the therapeutic relationship as the basis of all my work. As a relational therapist, I wholeheartedly believe that working through and overcoming challenges is only possible in an empowering, honest, and empathic environment. When working with clients, we will collaborate and utilize a strengths-based, affirming approach that also gently challenges and offers alternative perspectives about current functioning to help them develop greater insight and achieve their goals. Depending on the presenting concerns, I will utilize culturally aware and trauma-informed techniques from evidence-based interventions like Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).
As Multicultural Specialist, I provide and coordinate outreach, training and consultation to students, faculty, and staff, regarding mental health and wellness issues. I particularly focus on serving the needs of diverse, historically marginalized, and underrepresented student populations.
My professional areas of interest are diversity/multicultural issues, trauma, depression, familial/relational concerns, life transitions, women’s issues, and identity development.
