John Patterson

Biography

A musician, roller coaster lover, avid nature adventurer, and NPR fanatic, I spent many years pushing for good governance and conducting government oversight from my position with the United States Senate before coming to Oberlin College. Having begun my career in compliance, particularly focusing on the McCain-Feingold era of federal election law, I have enjoyed branching out and learning how to navigate new and complex regulatory environments now including higher education. From helping to determine the everyday implications of foreign policy, to assisting laymen to understand the significance of wetland restoration credits, I am always looking for a new way to apply my skills. As the Legal & Executive Assistant in the Office of the Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, you can find me jumping into the deep end on any number of matters, no matter the subject.
