Introduction of a Lactation Room

Department of Human Resources

We are pleased to announce the opening of a dedicated Lactation Room in Peters G26, created to provide a private, comfortable, and supportive space for faculty and staff. This initiative reflects our commitment to fostering a family-friendly, inclusive campus while helping employees balance professional and caregiving responsibilities.

The decision to establish a lactation room came this past spring in response to the growing need for a supportive space to express milk. For many new parents, finding both time and privacy can be challenging. This room ensures employees have the resources they need to care for their health and families while continuing to thrive in their work.

Key Features:

  • Private & Comfortable: Equipped with seating, good lighting, and electrical outlets.
  • Amenities: Includes sanitizing wipes and a small refrigerator for storing breast milk.
  • Convenient Location: Centrally located in Peters G26.
  • Flexible Use: Available through an online booking system to accommodate varying schedules.

The Lactation Room is open to all faculty and staff. Reservations can be made through the booking form to ensure availability.

This initiative is part of our broader commitment to inclusivity and support for new parents. For questions, please contact Human Resources at benefits@oberlin.edu
