Wilder Hall Renovation Update
November 14, 2023 10:45 AM
We are now less than six months away from the completion of phase-one renovations of Wilder Hall and are looking forward to welcoming students, faculty, and staff into the newly remodeled space.
Phase-one renovation work is concentrated on the west side of the building with a focus on enhanced safety and the student experience. This includes code compliance upgrades along with functional and habitability improvements.
Work began in the winter of 2023 with demolition and abatement and continued throughout the summer and this fall with utility infrastructure, structural repairs, HVAC installation, and interior architectural layout and finish work.
The construction team remains keenly focused on progress and has successfully mitigated supply chain constraints, however key electrical components and materials remain in short-supply and increased delivery lead-times have extended phase-one project completion into the spring of 2024. Subsequent phases that include renovations to the remainder of the building will be planned and scheduled over the next several years.
Progress to date includes:
- Installation of a new interior egress stair tower and entrance on the west-side of Wilder Hall.
- Installation of a new fire suppression system to promote safety on campus.
- Tied the western side of the building mechanical system into the campus
SIP system, assisting in our sustainability goals. - Constructed four new gender-neutral restrooms to promote equity on campus.
- Established a new space for the Office of Disability & Access
complete with offices, more than 2,000 square feet of accessibility testing
space, a sensory room, and lobby. - Established more than 3,000 square feet of renovated space for the
Multicultural Resource Commons, including offices for the staff and a renovated lounge. - Established more than 3,500 square feet of newly renovated meeting rooms for student organizations.
- Established a New Electronic Locker System for Student Mail.
We greatly appreciate your patience during this renovation process.
