Tricia Bertram Gallant, the coauthor of The Opposite of Cheating: A New Approach to Academic Integrity in the 21st Century. In her work, Bertram Gallant moves beyond framing integrity as merely the absence of cheating to offer a forward-looking, research-based approach that centers curiosity, trust, and meaningful learning. In the age of AI, she challenges educators to rethink assessment—not simply to prevent misuse of generative tools, but to design authentic, reflective learning experiences that cultivate motivation, belonging, and the skills that matter most.
In this workshop, Dr. Tricia Bertram Gallant will invite participants to explore what “the opposite of cheating” might look like in our own teaching contexts. Together, we’ll consider how we—as faculty, advisers, and mentors—can create learning experiences and assessments that promote integrity and engagement in a world where human practices and AI technologies are increasingly intertwined (whether voluntarily or not!).
Food will be provided. Faculty RSVPs to pbratton@oberlin.edu.
