From October 29 to 30, The Environmental Studies & Sciences and Studio Art departments are hosting guest lectures and a film screening with artist and landscape architect Mitchell Rasor ‘89. The film Salt Marsh by Tom Bell “explores art, climate, and solitude” through Rasor’s drawings and first premiered at the Camden International Film Festival this September. Beyond Oberlin, Salt Marsh will be shown at the Barcelona Film Festival in October and Rasor will present other lectures at Harvard University, the Rhode Island School of Design, and the University of Virginia.

After earning his BA in English Language and Literature at Oberlin, Rasor continued his education at the Harvard University School of Design, receiving a Masters in Landscape Architecture. He has worked in landscape architecture for over 30 years, serving as the Principal at Rasor Landscape Architecture for most of his career. The trailer for Salt Marsh can be viewed here.

This public event is co-sponsored by the Office of Alumni Engagement, Environmental Studies & Sciences Program., Department of Cinema & Media, and the Studio Art Department through the Ellen Johnson Fund for Contemporary Art.
