The Martin Lectures Fund was established by gifts of many friends of Professor Charles Beebe Martin ’76, in recognition of his service of more than 40 years as a teacher of Greek and the Fine Arts. The annual Martin Classical Lectures are among the most prestigious Classical lecture series in the world. They’ve been running since 1926, and have resulted in at least 38 published volumes of Classical scholarship, published by Harvard University Press and Princeton University Press.
The November 2026 Charles Beebe Classical Lectures at Oberlin College feature guest lecturer Alessandro Schiesaro, who will be lecturing on Ovid's Galatea and the Poetics of Stones.
