Join the Oberlin College Department of Classics for the guest lecture A Curious Queen and (Not So) Simple Solution: Homer's Odyssey and Oral Poetics Today.

Even as Homer’s Odyssey maintains a prominent position in new scholarship and popular media, the epic poem still presents us with puzzles and difficulties. This lecture shows how attention to Homer’s ancient performance tradition allows us to uncover and solve new problems that add to the poem's rich meaning.

Presented by Justin Arft, associate professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville

Open to all members of the Oberlin campus community
