For the past two years, the Lemle Center has collaborated with Lecturer of Writing and Communication Hal Sundt to bring journalists and authors of non-academic pieces to campus to speak with interested faculty about public-facing writing. This year, we are shifting gears slightly while staying on course by bringing in literary agent and novelist Jennifer Herrera from the David Black Literary Agency for a lunchtime workshop.

In this session, though, we will go beyond the writing process to engage and talk publishing industry. Jennifer will make some remarks about how literary agents read and evaluate proposals, and how interested scholars can position their academic research for mainstream trade publishers and broader public readership. We’ll also talk pitches, the contemporary book market, and literary representation.

Lunch will be served.  Please consider RSVPing to sgutierr@oberlin.edu
