RESIDENCE HALL SAFETY AND EMERGENCY POLICIES
Notify the Conference Services staff if you change rooms for any reason. In the event of an emergency, this will assist the staff in ensuring that all rooms are checked and everyone is safely accounted for.
Please treat all fire alarms as real fires. The city’s fire code requires evacuation during alarms. Failure to evacuate can result in fines. You must evacuate and stay 30 feet away from entrances. Staff may ask you to move farther away if necessary.
Oberlin College is a tobacco-free campus that prohibits the use of all tobacco products on all campus grounds and facilities. Portable electronic vaporizers, otherwise known as “vapes,” are permitted for outdoor use at least 30 feet away from campus buildings. Candles or incense may not be used in residential rooms, lounges, or kitchens.
Do not hang anything from the sprinkler heads or pipes.
The college is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property. When leaving your residence hall room, please lock all windows and doors. Do not leave valuables in plain sight in your room.
The college reserves the right to enter your room in the event of an emergency, for maintenance, and for other purposes as outlined by college policy.
WEAPONS
Weapons are not permitted on or in college property. If you are seen with weapons, you may be immediately removed from college property.
FIREWORKS
Fireworks of any sort are not permitted on college property. If you are seen possessing or using fireworks, you may be immediately removed from college property.
ALCOHOL
Possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages by persons under legal drinking age (21) is prohibited. If you are 21 or older, you may drink alcohol in your residence hall room, kitchens, or lounges in your assigned residence hall. No alcohol may be consumed outdoors. If you would like an exception to this policy, please have your group leader contact the Conference Manager assigned to your group.
INTERNET ACCESS
If your group has arranged for internet access while on campus, you will be given a username and password to access the Oberlin College network, either via your own personal computer or by logging in on a lab computer.
Conference Services partners with the Oberlin College Center for Information Technology (CIT) to provide free guest access via the ObieGuest wireless network. All requests will be processed by Conference Services.
Conference groups must request internet access at least two days prior to arriving on campus. (Waiting to submit the request until you arrive will delay being able to set up access to the network.)
Note: Internet accounts are valid for your length of stay on campus. If you have questions, contact our CIT Help Desk at 440-775-8197 (on-campus 58197), or send an email to support@oberlin.edu.
PARKING ON CAMPUS

You will also receive a parking map and instructions when you register for a parking permit. Please park in spaces identified on your map and avoid special use or reserved parking.
The permit holder is responsible for parking violation notices. If no permit is displayed, the ticket will be the responsibility of the owner.
