New cell phone or reset your existing phone? The CIT Help Desk can help!

If you get a new cell phone or reset your existing phone, you will need to register it with Okta Verify to continue using it for multi-factor authentication. If you do not register your new phone and do not have a Yubikey as a backup MFA option, you will not be able to access your email, Blackboard, or other Oberlin single sign-on services.

To register a new phone with Okta Verify:

  1. Send an email to the CIT Help Desk at support@oberlin.edu asking us to “reset your Extra Verification.” If you send this email request from your personal email account, make sure to include your Obie ID (e.g., jdoe) in the body of the email.
  2. CIT Help Desk staff will reset your MFA settings and you will receive an email confirming the reset.
  3. Go to okta.oberlin.edu. Okta will prompt you to set up your Okta Verify on your new or updated device.

If you previously configured your Mobile ObieID Card, make sure to add your Mobile ObieID Card to your new iPhone, Apple Watch, or Android phone once Okta Verify is set up.
