Biography

Brandon Kruse is the Controls Engineer in the Office of Energy and Sustainability. He began in this role in January 2023. He has 6 years of experience as an HVAC installer and BAS installer, as well as 1 year of oversight of large facility HVAC systems. Before his HVAC career, he worked as a Network Analyst on the tech side for a national insurance company where he monitored network activity, provided technical support for network systems, and troubleshooted software issues. He came to Oberlin from Air Force One, where he was most recently a BAS installer and gaining experience in controls.

Brandon is EPA Universal Refrigeration certified. As part of the Office of Energy and Sustainability, he now works on various initiatives across campus focused on upgrading monitoring systems and HVAC equipment to aid the college in meeting its carbon neutral goals. 

Ohio born and bred, Brandon has lived near all 3 of the major Cs and earned his Bachelor of Business Management at Franklin University in 2013. He now lives in Avon Lake with his family where he is always tinkering in the garage and teaching himself new skills such as welding and woodwork. Always of the “let’s try to fix it first” mentality, he likes tearing apart broken things to see if he can fix them and put them back together. He spends much of his free time mountain biking and loves activities that take him into nature.
