The Mathematics Department presented its annual student awards and prizes at the department open house on May 24, 2026. These awards recognize outstanding achievement, promise, leadership, and service within the mathematics community.

Jamie Phillips-Freedman ’26 received the Rebecca C. Orr Memorial Prize for exceptional scholastic achievement and promise for future professional accomplishment.

Sam Thiel ’26 received the Edward T. Wong Memorial Prize for outstanding scholastic achievement and contributions to the department.

Lii Whitaker ’28 received the Samuel Goldberg Community Leadership Award for outstanding contributions to the mathematics community and department.

David Bronshvayg ’27 received the John D. Baum Memorial Prize for earning the highest score among Oberlin College students on the Annual Putnam Mathematical Competition.
