I am committed to serving on the Board of Trustees because I’ve felt its shortcomings
firsthand. As a first-gen student and mentor, I have seen the ways that Oberlin College’s
inattentiveness to labor issues and marginalized communities has cast a shadow on
what we thought this campus represented. It’s time that changes.
I am prepared to use my love for what Oberlin can be to make it what it should be. From
my experience working in the dining hall to collaborating with faculty, I feel
well-equipped to represent the interests of the whole Oberlin. As the director of a
charter Pre-K program, I have also become no stranger to financial and personnel
decisions. I am prepared to use these skills to create a more accessible and honest
Oberlin which admits a diverse student body and supports them when they arrive; treats
staff with dignity and respect; and hears its students.
