The Oberlin Parents Council (OPC) serves as ambassadors connecting families to the Oberlin College community. They support the mission of Oberlin College and Conservatory by fostering meaningful engagement and enhancing the student and parent experience through volunteerism and philanthropic leadership. They collaborate with the College to accomplish specific goals relating to four initiatives: philanthropy, career preparation, admissions and student recruitment, and communications. Their work within these initiatives strengthens connections, builds community, and promotes lifelong investment in the futures of all students.
Expectations:
- Serve as positive liaisons for Oberlin College and Conservatory
- Make an annual leadership gift of at least $5,000 to the Oberlin Parents Fund or the fund of the student and families' interest
- Consider an endowed leadership gift in honor of their student’s graduation
- Attend in person and virtual meetings as schedules allow
Volunteer Opportunities
- Educate parents & families on the importance of financial support for scholarships, student programs, and educational experiences
- Offer leadership, career, and internship opportunities to students
- Recommend prospective students for admission
- Sponsor and/or host Oberlin-related events and activities
