Biography

I am very excited to be back at Oberlin College Theater Department as the  Costumer/Costume Shop Manager/Lecturer, a job that I previously held from 1997 to 2000.

I left Oberlin because our young family was moving out of state. For 10 years after I worked as a stay-at-home mom and freelance artist; it was a treasured time to bring up my children. Since 2010, I have been working in the world of bridal fashion, first as a designer and later as an entrepreneur. Heading a local small business, I have worked on nearly all related wholesale and retail positions, dealt extensively with customers, national and international suppliers, and administrative agencies at every level. I have learned and lived the ups and downs of the industry. Bridal gowns being the only costumed garment in our modern day society, I never truly left, although my personal and professional experiences have made me a better employee, a better manager, and a better teacher.

Throughout the years I have always been proud to have worked at Oberlin, and frequently reflected on the job that has shaped and defined my early career. Not only the opportunity offered artistic expression in terms of costume construction and the excitement in running an active shop, it has also allowed me to teach and share with students, and belong to the group of talented and dedicated professionals at the Theater Department. This is a homecoming for me on so many levels.
