The nursing and professional staff at Oberlin College’s COVID-19 testing center play a primary role in monitoring the health of the campus. This series offers a peek behind the mask of these frontline workers.

Registered Nurse Kayleen England enjoys crafts and woodworking when she’s not testing at Oberlin. Learn more about England in this week’s Behind the Mask.


Name: Kayleen England

What is your professional title? Registered Nurse [RN]

How long have you been in this profession? I have been a nurse for two and a half years. I started as an LPN [Licensed Practical Nurse] and transitioned to an RN.

What does your job entail at Oberlin's testing center? I help with specimen collection and registration.

What are you looking forward to after the pandemic? Traveling

What’s the best thing that happened to you this year? I passed my NCLEX-RN [National Council Licensure Examination for nursing].

Who is your favorite superhero? Wonder Woman

What do you do for fun? I make a lot of crafts and woodworking projects. In warmer weather, I love to work in my gardens and take my dogs for walks.

Favorite foods? Fruits, especially watermelon and strawberries. Also, cheesecake!

Favorite quote? "And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love," 1 Corinthians 13:13.
