The Board of Trustees’ first meeting for the 2015-2016 academic year took place on campus October 8 and 9, during which the board welcomed new trustees, approved charters, discussed fundraising efforts, reviewed the progress of the Strategic Planning Steering Committee, met with students, and more.

The Board of Trustees’ third meeting of the academic year took place in Oberlin on March 12 and 13. Over the two days, the Board attended classes, lectures, and forums; signed a steel beam later installed into the framework of the Gateway Complex; and approved divisional capital budget allocations for fiscal year 2016, among other motions.

The Board of Trustees’ second meeting of the academic year took place in Oberlin December 4 and 5. The program began with orientation for two new Trustees and concluded with a plenary session.

At the Board of Trustees' first meeting of the academic year on October 9 and 10, the board welcomed four new trustees and attended a presentation on diversity in higher education. It was also announced by the development staff that the Oberlin Illuminate Campaign has a current total of $236.5 million, which is in excess of 90 percent of the campaign’s $250 million goal.

Board Allocates $5 Million for Impact Investment Platform, Adopts Divestment Policy

Building on its leading-edge commitment to responsible investing through the creation of the Impact Investment Platform (IIP), and dovetailing with Oberlin's leadership in such areas as sustainability and access, the Board of Trustees has recently approved an initial allocation of $5 million to seed the IIP over the next five years. Furthering its commitment to making the investment process more inclusive, the Board also has adopted a divestment policy that provides an avenue through which students, employees, and alumni may bring forth concerns regarding endowment portfolio holdings.
