Ancient Roman religion was varied and flexible, incorporating gods and practices from all around the Mediterranean. The Allen’s Portrait of an Isis Priest, with its distinctive features, can tell us about two intriguing aspects of Roman religion: Roman fascination with Egypt and the peculiarities of so-called “mystery cults.” Join us for a talk by Emily French, the Allen’s new Assistant Curator of Academic Programs.
