bell hooks was a national treasure – a scholar, author, professor, feminist, activist, and so much more – who died in December 2021.  Join us for a read-In event on Tuesday, March 8 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Academic Commons (first floor of Mudd).  Oberlin's Black History Month celebration extends into March this year to coincide with Women's History Month and is a perfect time to pause and celebrate her life and her legacy.

The entire campus community is invited to participate in a public reading of excerpts from their favorite books by (or about) bell hooks and discuss the impact that those passages have had on our own lives, work, scholarship, and activism.

No need to sign up or RSVP; just show up and read with us. You can bring a book of your own, or check out one of ours!

Sponsored by Oberlin College Libraries, Africana Studies Dept., and English Dept.
