Be a Friend to Incoming International Students

June 9, 2015

Communications Staff

The Office of International Student Services is looking for campus and community members to serve as "Community Friends" for the incoming class of international students as part of its Community Friends Program for International Students. The voluntary program strives to enrich the experiences of international students at Oberlin College while providing a deeper understanding of international cultures in the broader community.

Friend/international student pairs—introduced at a meet-and-greet potluck organized by the Office of International Student Services—develop relationships organically over time by having meals together, sharing special occasions, attending sporting or cultural events together, and more.

Those interested in becoming a Community Friend can sign up using this form [expired link removed]. For more information regarding this program, contact Andrés Fernández, assistant dean of studies, at afernand@oberlin.edu.
