Music of an Indian Mystic: Kabir Singers with Prahlad Singh Tipanya

Prahlad Singh Tipanya and his ensemble will sing the poetry of Kabir, the great iconoclastic mystic of 15th-century North India, in the vigorous and joyful folk style of Madhya Pradesh’s Malwa region. Their performance will include translation of Kabir's poem-songs from Hindi into English with discussion from Dr. Linda Hess (Senior Lecturer Emerita in Religious Studies, Stanford University). This is a Mead Swing funded event.
