Message from the Conservatory Deans Office

March 12, 2020 9:00 PM

Office of the Dean of the Conservatory

Dear parents of Conservatory students,

In the coming days and weeks, the Conservatory faculty and administration will send information to your students regarding arrangements to complete the semester online.  The faculty, staff, and I are working diligently to ensure that we can make reasonable arrangements, given the circumstances, with regard to recitals, private lessons, and the like.

In the meantime, I want to assure you that these events will not negatively affect your students’ progress to graduation. The Conservatory faculty and I are committed to ensuring that the developments at hand do not negatively impact students’ ability to graduate on time or progress through their degree.

As I mentioned in my message to students last night, while we do not, at present, have answers to all of the questions with which we all are presently grappling, please know that the faculty and I are working diligently to ensure both the continuity and quality of your students’ educational experience.

The well-being, education, and success of your students—our students—is our top priority.

We will send routine updates to your students as information becomes available.

We know that these events bring a significant amount of disruption.  We thank you for your support, patience, and understanding. Educating your students is the honor and joy of a lifetime, and we greatly look forward to continuing this work together.

Respectfully yours,

William Quillen, Dean of Oberlin Conservatory
