What Type of Mask is Best?

We have been living with COVID-19 for more than two years, and wearing a mask has become part of our daily routine. Wearing a mask protects others as well as ourselves and is effective in helping to prevent the spread of COVID-19. And while we know that masks should completely cover the nose and mouth and work best when they fit snugly against the sides of our face, we may be questioning which type of mask to choose. In New York Magazine’s the Strategist, the experts break it down: “What Are the Best Disposable Face Masks?”

Campus Testing Statistics

To provide timely information regarding campus COVID-19 testing, each week we will share the most recent statistics that are available and a link to the complete data that is updated daily on the ObieSafe webpage. Yesterday, 50 PCR tests and four rapid tests were administered on campus, and there are currently a total of nine students, faculty, and staff in isolation. For more detailed statistics, visit the ObieSafe Campus Testing Statistics page.

Please Upload Your Booster Shot Information

  • Students should upload vaccine cards to the Student Health Portal.
  • Faculty and staff should upload vaccine cards through the Human Resources Portal.
  • Those who have vaccination exemptions on file for medical or other reasons do not need to request a new exemption.

Booster Shot Eligibility

Please arrange to get a booster shot as soon as you are eligible. According to guidance from the CDC, most people may get a booster five months after completing their primary COVID-19 series vaccination. All students, faculty, and staff are required to obtain a COVID booster shot by the start of the spring semester on February 19 unless you are exempt. Those who aren’t eligible to get a booster by that date should obtain a booster as soon as possible following the 19th. If you have questions regarding your booster eligibility, please contact the ObieSafe team at obiesafe@oberlin.edu.
