Biography
AJ Johnson graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a major in computer science and a self-designed major called mixed media storytelling. Their senior thesis was a short film about the intersections of multiraciality and queerness, which drew both on their lived experience with these identities and their interest in pursuing related advocacy work, as well as on their broader background in intergroup dialogue. At Mount Holyoke, they oversaw the creation of antiracism training for the peer writing center and facilitated dialogues about interfaith awareness, microaggressions, race & ethnicity, and more. At Oberlin, they hope to continue guiding similar conversations as well as working closely with students to develop new dialogue opportunities.
After living in Washington State, New Jersey, California, Massachusetts, and Montana, AJ is finally exploring the Midwest by settling in Oberlin with their girlfriend. In their free time, they can be found cooking a new recipe, reading, or preparing to someday be a dialogically-trained therapist in Montana.
