A wave of cell phones dancing in the air of a dimmed Finney Chapel during Friday Night Organ Pump mimics a swarm of fireflies. The image also serves as inspiration for this week’s photo series.
Halloween brought out a capacity audience, many in costume, for last week’s Friday Night Organ Pump concert. The program, an Oberlin College tradition since 1992, features students from the Oberlin Conservatory Organ Department on the C.B. Fisk, Opus 116 organ. Toward the end of the concert, students are invited on stage to feel the vibrations of the organ as it is played. The Lights are turned off and many participants close their eyes as the music envelops them.
In this week’s photo series, we take a look at several images that have a transporting effect.
This Week in Photos is a selection of images and is not meant to represent a weekly timeline. Images highlight campus, community, people, and events related to Oberlin College.
