Russian Language Study Awards

During the  2026-2027 academic year, OCREECAS will provide monetary awards to students seeking to supplement their Russian language learning through additional educational opportunities. Students typically use these funds during winter or summer to enhance their Russian language proficiency in the US or abroad. Students are encouraged to consult with faculty about various programs. This award is designed to promote continued Russian language learning and is open to currently enrolled first-, second-, and third-year students who have completed at least two consecutive semesters (fall, winter, or spring) of Russian language and intend to continue studying Russian at Oberlin. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis (email: kpaabus@oberlin.edu & msolovie@oberlin.edu) and require the support of a Russian language faculty member, a resumé, a statement of purpose, confirmation of program participation, and a detailed budget. Please note that the overall annual budget for this programming generally supports up to four awards of $2,000 each. Awards are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note the following:

・Applications are accepted and awarded on a rolling basis until annual funds are exhausted.

・Students are eligible for one OCREECAS Russian Language Study Award during their time at Oberlin. Students who receive an OCREECAS Russian Language Study Award are still eligible for Winter Term Grants or OCREECAS internships. 

・This is purely a monetary award—OCREECAS is not responsible for providing logistical support (visa, travel arrangements, etc.).  

・Awardees will be required to write a grant report (approx 400 words) and submit jpegs of images to the OCREECAS director within two weeks of completing their program. The director may request for information earlier to support the annual newsletter deadline.
