OCREECAS Internships

An important mission of OCREECAS is to support summer and postgraduate service internships abroad through grants.

In the spring, OCREECAS will award up to three grants of a maximum of $5,000 each to support students participating in internships in the OCREECAS region* during 2027. While a few affiliate placements are available, students are strongly encouraged to create their own opportunities with recognized institutions. Internships typically last one to three months and require at least one affiliate institution in the host country. The program is open to current students and recent graduates (within the past two years), with priority for REEES majors and students who have not previously received this award. The application instructions and form are linked below.

Maia Solovieva, Senior Lecturer in Russian and OCREECAS Internship Coordinator, recommends that all students applying for an internship have prior experience in that country, either through study abroad or some other intimate means, and meet with her to discuss their proposals months in advance of the application deadline. The internships are meant to give students an opportunity to experience professional or pre-professional life in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
