This fall, Oberlin welcomes back students, faculty and staff members during the tragic aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

The rocky road to Union Street

As returning students moved back into their residences this past Sunday, happily decorating their walls with the quintessential Picasso posters and trying to connect their computers to the campus server, 23 of them dragged their luggage instead into the Oberlin Inn, 11 into College rental housing and one into a converted janitors’ closet in Langston Hall

Lananna says farewell to Oberlin

Vin Lananna, former Delta Lodge director of athletics and physical education professor at Oberlin College, stepped down from his position in mid-August to pursue a new position at the University of Oregon, where he will have the opportunity to create a development program for elite distance runners from around the nation.

Yeomen soccer still seeking first win

The Oberlin Yeomen soccer team opened their season up Sept. 3 with a home game against Babson College. The Yeomen started the game somewhat lethargic, and Babson capitalized, scoring a goal at the 21:03 mark of the first half.

Pianist Anthony Molinaro plays with lightning

Classical music audiences everywhere have dwindled, prompting the current generation of artists to develop new methods of attracting the public. Pianist Anthony Molinaro of Chicago strives to revitalize the genre by “bring[ing] something new out to the audience.”
