Scott Crandall

Biography

Scott Crandall (they/he) is a transdisciplinary performance maker, dramaturg, and designer whose research and performances focus on partial, multiple, and overlapping apocalypses of climate change and late capitalism. Through improvisation-based physical practice, design forward performances that slip between theater/dance/performance art, and overflowing prose, Scott creates precise and highly designed structures that overlap theory and narrative in a queer, dense dream logic. They also create hilarious and thoughtful performances about horrible beloved crumbling America with collaborator Maddy Rager as the Kresge Fellowship-winning duo “Thank You So Much For Coming”. Scott also is a member of Play House Laboratories, a nonprofit organization that manages Play House, a studio, rehearsal space, and small-scale performance venue bringing high-quality, experimental, and family-friendly programming to Banglatown, Detroit residents at little-to-no cost.
