The second stop on the Punch Brothers’ three-part residency included an afternoon listening party in Stull Recital Hall on Tuesday, March 11. For more than an hour, the brothers (including Chris Eldridge ’04, above) regaled students with sounds that have influenced their own musical paths—a genre-jumping smorgasbord that included clips from Howlin’ Wolf, Frank Sinatra, and Sufjan Stevens spun on mp3 players and laptops and turntables. When the scheduled session ended, the band played on, and the students happily stuck around for more. The Punch Brothers return in May to wrap their residency and perform during Commencement/Reunion Weekend.
