CLEAR Coordinators
CLEAR Coordinators play a crucial role in supporting mentorship and student engagement within Oberlin's STEM community. They help lead orientations for new mentors and mentees, ensuring everyone feels prepared and welcomed into CLEAR's programs. Additionally, they track mentor requirements and lead cohort meetings, creating a supportive environment for mentors to grow and thrive. CLEAR Coordinators also conduct observations of mentoring sessions, providing constructive peer feedback to enhance mentoring skills. Their responsibilities extend to assisting with mentor interviews, meeting with CLEAR staff leadership to align on goals, and handling various administrative tasks that contribute to the smooth functioning of CLEAR's initiatives. Together, these efforts ensure a cohesive, supportive, and effective mentoring network at Oberlin.
My name is Menard Simoya and I am a CLEAR coordinator. I enjoy collaborating with peers to solve problems and supporting other students. I also work as a research assistant in Professor Eck's AI lab, where our research focuses on improving decision making in Multi-Agent Systems. In previous semesters I served as a CLEAR Mentor, and I grew to love the work. Now, as a CLEAR coordinator, I look forward to helping the CLEAR mentors perform at their full potential and to bridging the gap between the resources CLEAR offers and the students in STEM courses who can benefit from them.
Hi, I’m Arev Lima Boudakian (She/Her) and I am the Lead CLEAR Coordinator. I used to be an OWL for CSCI 151 and now this is my second year serving as a coordinator. I love being able to collaborate with the other coordinators as we work to support the mentors. Outside of CLEAR, I work as a lab helper and computational skills associate for the computer science department, a student assistant in the Science Library, and am researching the relationship between GenAI and colonialism for Anthropology Honors. The work that CLEAR does is integral to dismantling barriers to make STEM more inclusive.
My name is Amelia Baird and I am a CLEAR coordinator. I am a third year student studying neuroscience and biology. Last year, I served as an OWL for NSCI 201 and BIOL 100. This year, as a CLEAR Coordinator, I look forward to problem solving with my mentors, supporting their work, listening to their experiences and helping the rest of the CLEAR leadership team. Outside of CLEAR, I am a research student in Professor Paine’s lab where our research focuses on investigating the sex differences of cocaine induced impulsivity. I think the work CLEAR does is vital in deconstructing the barrier to entry of STEM classes. I am excited to be a part of the work that helps students feel they belong in what can be intimidating classes.
Hi! I’m Avishi Khar (she/her) and I am one of the CLEAR coordinators. I used to be an OWL for CHEM 102 and this is my first year as a coordinator. I am super excited to meet and support all the coordinators and help facilitate the mission and values of CLEAR. Outside of CLEAR, I do research in the neuroscience department, work as a production editor for the Oberlin Review, play badminton, and love hiking.
