Lynne Bianchi

Biography

Lynne Bianchi taught courses in Introductory Neuroscience, Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology, and Developmental Neurobiology.  Her 2018 book Developmental Neurobiology was based on her course at Oberlin College, with input and contributions from Oberlin alumni.

Her research on the embryonic development of auditory and vestibular nerve cells focused on identifying growth factors needed to initiate nerve growth.  She received support for this work from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation (NSF), and Deafness Research Foundation. The resulting publications feature experiments conducted by several Oberlin College students.

While at Oberlin, she also served terms as Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences and Premedical Program Director.  After retiring, she took a position as Director of Medical Research Operations in Erie, PA.  She has published two books since retiring and serves as editor for the book series Foundations and Innovations in Neurobiology.
