Kristi Del Vecchio

Biography

Kristi Del Vecchio is a religious ethicist whose research focuses on moral responses to contemporary environmental crises. Her first book project, Climate Change and Kinship: Eco-Reproductive Ethics in Christian Contexts, examines the moral dimensions of having and raising children in an era shaped by climate threats. Centering on Christian environmentalists in the U.S., this project explores how religious communities can advance more sustainable reproductive futures through creative kinship practices and strategies of collective resistance. 

Del Vecchio’s research has been published in The Journal of Religious Ethics and is forthcoming in The Journal for the Study of Religion, Nature, and Culture. Her public-facing scholarship has been featured in venues such as Sightings and The Chicago Tribune. She currently serves on the steering committee for the Religion and Ecology Unit at the American Academy of Religion and is a board member for the Association for Interreligious and Interfaith Studies.

Prior to joining the Oberlin community, Del Vecchio earned her PhD in Religious Ethics from the University of Chicago Divinity School (2025) and served as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Religion and Ethics at Bucknell University (2025-2026).
