Department Awards

Established in July, 1902 by a gift from Merritt Starr. The Prize is awarded by the Politics Department to outstanding graduating seniors in the studies of civics, economics, political history, and kindred subjects.

Established in 1994 in memory of Aaron Wildavsky, a former Professor of Politics at the College. The Prize is awarded annually by the Politics Department, to outstanding graduating senior(s) specializing in American politics and public policy.

2023-24 Geneen Scholars

Politics majors Sophia Cartsonis '24, Alyson Jefferson '24, and Claire Schmelzer 'Dec. '23 were selected as 2023-24 Geneen Scholars through a grant to Oberlin from the Harold S. Geneen Charitable Trust. Open to junior or senior economics or politics majors, the scholarships support talented students who have a demonstrated interest in corporate management and governance and whose financial resources are augmented by their own efforts.
