What do you think of the possibility that the College will lower dorm temperatures by two degrees?

“The problem with dorm heating isn’t the temperature the master thermostats are kept at, but rather the fact that individuals cannot control the temperature of their own rooms. A lot of people open windows while the heat is on because the rooms get to be too hot –– this is obviously very wasteful. If everyone could adjust their own temperatures, I'm sure the College would end up saving fuel and money, because the entire system would be more efficient.”

“I say, why not? It’s too hot in here anyway.”

–Owen Poindexter

“Well, I haven’t lived in the dorms for two years, but I remember them quite well, in all their Technicolor horror. And of the myriad problems my dorm rooms invariably had, at the top of the list was the fact that my dorm room sophomore year was colder than Satan’s black heart. It was like living in fucking Greenland. I slept with a hat on, for fuck’s sake. Two degrees colder and you could’ve put me next to Walt Disney for the next 100 years. Now, maybe I’m old-fashioned, but I think my gargantuan tuition bill should give me, if nothing else, the right to live in relative comfort while I learn shit.
Everyone knows that the administration is as cheap as a Long Island whore, but let’s try to keep the students alive and healthy, shall we?”

“I think it's fine, the lowering of dorm temps, ’cuz I remember the dorms always being soooo hot. Maybe it will help.”
–Molly Benson
College senior

“It’s two degrees, how badly could that affect people? The dorms are overheated anyhow, and if for some reason people get cold, well, buy a frickin’ blanket.”
–Adam Zucker
College senior
