Feb. 9, 3:34 p.m. A student reported observing juveniles throwing oranges at parked vehicles in the area of Gray Gables Lot. The juveniles were located, warned and transported to their homes.

Feb. 9, 6:26 p.m. A staff member reported the odor of a possible controlled substance in South Hall. The odor was found to have been coming from an extinguished incense stick.

Feb. 9, 7:40 p.m. A Safety and Security officer on patrol observed water leaking from the ceiling in the central section of the Conservatory. A maintenance technician was called for repairs. 

Feb. 10, 12:20 a.m. A Safety and Security officer on patrol observed personal items left unattended in a practice room. The room was secured and a note left for the owner.

Feb. 10, 1:30 a.m. A female student was approached and grabbed by an unknown male parked in front of her house on Woodland St. The student pulled away and ran into her residence. The man drove away in his vehicle. The incident is under investigation by the Safety and Security office and the Oberlin Police Department and is considered serious in nature. 
Feb. 10, 1:00 p.m. A staff member from Phillips Gym reported vehicles parked on the soccer field. Barricades were set up at the entrance to prevent parking in the area.

Feb. 10, 7:47 p.m. A student reported the theft of a bookbag from a carrel in Mudd Library. The carrel was checked and the missing bookbag located in another carrel. A blue/purple Sony CD player with headphones and a CD is still missing.


Feb. 12, 10:25 p.m. The Safety and Security office and the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Dascomb. The alarm was caused by a detector malfunction.

Feb. 12, 10:29 p.m. The Safety and Security office and the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Langston Hall. The alarm was caused by dust from a vacuum.

Feb. 12, 2:25 p.m. A staff member reported damage to a college vehicle parked in Rice Lot. A scratch, the length of the driver’s side of the vehicle, was observed and appeared to be the result of an intentional keying.


Feb. 12, 8:17 p.m. A student reported the theft of clothing from the laundry room in Asia House. Missing is a white shirt with blue writing, an off-white shirt with black writing and a light-blue shirt with stick figures on it. Value of the clothing is unknown.

Feb. 13, 5:07 p.m. A student reported receiving a phone call from an unknown male that was obscene in nature. The incident is under investigation.

Feb. 13, 10:39 p.m. While on patrol, a Safety and Security officer discovered alcohol on a shelf in the basement of Talcott. The alcohol was confiscated and transported to the Safety and Security office.


Feb. 14, 1:29 a.m. A resident of Tank Hall requested transport to Allen Memorial Hospital for his ill wife. The female was transported by ambulance to AMH.
