The following is a compilation of weekly reports from the Office of Safety and Security.

Dec. 6, 10:48 a.m. Campus Security Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at South Hall. The alarm was activated due to a faulty detector.

8:50 p.m. Campus Security Officers responded to a report of subjects throwing items from a vehicle in the area of East Hall. Upon checking the building, it was reported to Campus Security Officers that three unknown male subjects were seen leaving with an item under their coat. The three male subjects were located and taken into custody by Oberlin Police Department Officers.

Dec. 7, 12:09 p.m. A Campus Security Officer responded to a reported theft from Mudd A-level or second floor. Taken was a black jacket (no further description available) with a room key in the pocket.

Dec. 8, 2:38 p.m. Campus Security Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Art Building. The alarm was activated by an apparent malfunction and was reset with no further problems.

11:04 a.m. Campus Security Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Keep. The alarm was caused by smoke from cooking.

1:03 p.m. A Campus Security Officer responded to reported vandalism of a validine machine and calculator phone in Stevenson Dining Hall.

Dec. 9, 5:20 a.m. While on routine patrol, a Campus Security Officer found an exterior door at Barrows and an exterior door at Langston Hall barricaded by snow. Snow was removed from the area and Grounds was notified for clean-up.

Dec. 10, 12:28 p.m. A Campus Security Officer responded to a report of a theft at the Service Bldg. Taken was an electric staple gun and an electric oil heater.

2:50 p.m. A Campus Security Officer responded to the report of a stolen bike from Carnegie. The bike was described as a women's 1 speed, pinkish lavender in color with a black seat. The bike was later recovered.

8:58 p.m. Campus Security Officers and the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Asia House. The alarm was caused by a faulty detector.


Follow Up: As a result of investigation of the incidents that occurred Halloween night, October 31, 1996, one juvenile was arrested and charged by Oberlin Police Department.

As a result of investigation into the thefts of the trumpets and violin from the Conservatory, two subjects were arrested and charged by Oberlin Police Department. The trumpets and violin were recovered.

As a result of an investigation in the assault of a student in Wilder parking lot, one subject was arrested and charged by Oberlin Police Department.
