Bowling Attends Tournament

Oberlin’s Intercollegiate Bowling Team sent a men’s and women’s squad to the Dayton area last weekend for the second annual Raider Classic tournament, hosted by Wright State University. The event, which was dominated by Pikeville College (whose women won the 2004 national championship), was a humbling one for the Yeo-bowlers.

Sophomore Sam Lansford led all Oberlin bowlers with a high individual game of 205.  She also posted a 191 score and led the women’s squad with a 155 average.

Senior John Zaldonis led Oberlin’s men with single games of 195 and 193. His 163 average was tops among the Oberlin contingent.

As so often happens, the Baker games — in which each of five teammates rolls two frames of a single score — allowed Oberlin’s teamwork to shine brightest. The men’s squad posted a 209 score to top Ball State in their third Baker game.

Oberlin’s next intercollegiate event will be a conference meet at Wedgewood Lanes in Youngstown this coming Saturday, Nov. 18.
