Ask Clarence

Ask Clarence is a collection of 350+ web sites, indexes, dictionaries, and other reference tools identified by Oberlin College Art Library staff as the best places to start art research. Ask Clarence searches OBIS using special keywords that identify research resources by period/culture, medium, and tool type.

For best results, choose a selection from each column below.

Examples: For symbols in Japanese art, choose "Japan", "Art", and "Iconography". To find articles about Gothic cathedrals choose "Medieval", "Architecture", and "Periodical Indexes". For sources that contain images of paintings by Picasso choose "Modern", "Painting", and "Reproductions".
