Connect from Off Campus

Most Oberlin College Library and OhioLINK databases and electronic journals can be accessed off campus if you are recognized as a valid Oberlin College user.

Depending on the database or journal this may involve authenticating with OhioLINK and/or the Oberlin College Proxy Server.

Note: Faculty and staff members using Oberlin.net as their internet service provider (ISP) should be recognized as on-campus users and do not need to authenticate.

Users also have the option of using the Virtual Private Networking (VPN) service offered by the CIT.

Attention Students

Off campus access to online databases and electronic journals is restricted to current students. During academic leaves (including enrolled-not-in-residence programs) and over the summer, student privileges are modified to allow uninterrupted access to online resources.

Continuing students who find that their access is unexpectedly restricted should file a request to update their record.

We regret that students who are graduated, withdrawn, or on personal leave cannot be authorized for remote access.

Problems?

If you encounter problems accessing a database or journal, follow these steps:
  1. Go to http://www.ohiolink.edu/cgi-bin/whereami.pl
  2. Copy and paste the information about your browser and IP address into an email message to Alan.Boyd@oberlin.edu
  3. Include the name of the database and the date and time you experienced the problem
  4. Describe or copy and paste any error messages you received while trying to access the database
