For 31 seasons this is where aspiring artists have experienced life not as a student, but as an opera professional.

This four-week intensive opera program for the collegiate, pre-professional singer (18 years and older) combines language and musical study with Italian cultural immersion. Program participants work closely with a faculty of internationally distinguished artists, teachers, coaches, conductors, and stage directors. You will develop your singing-acting craft, musical interpretation, and artistry—all in the heart of Tuscany.

Productions: Two fully staged operas plus an opera scenes performance.

Application deadline:  Thursday, January 24, 2019.

Auditions: Recordings are to be uploaded with application or you may audition live in Oberlin on Sunday, February 3, 2019, or at the University of Maryland on Thursday, February 7, 2019. Your application must be completed by the January 24 deadline in order to receive an audition slot in Oberlin or Maryland.

The opportunities provided by the Oberlin-in-Italy program laid the foundation for me as an artist. The immersive nature of the program allowed me to experience life not as a student, but as an opera professional. I still find myself drawing on my summer experiences in my career.
