Update on Student Health Services Student Health Services

Dear Obies,

While Harness Health Partners has provided excellent service in many areas, Oberlin has decided to end its contract and bring the management of Student Health Services in-house, due to philosophical differences. 

At the start of our relationship with Harness Health, Oberlin was assured that Harness would be able to provide the full range of services, including comprehensive reproductive health services and affirming LGBTQIA healthcare to our students. Shortly after our agreement was finalized, Harness changed their perspective on the services they could provide. Oberlin moved immediately to make these services available to students through other healthcare providers over the past academic year. Still, our preference has always been to offer these services in a more integrated way, consistent with Oberlin’s values.

Earlier today Dean Karen Goff met with student health staff to inform them of this change, answer questions, and offer those interested and qualified the opportunity to continue working for Student Health Services as Oberlin employees. We have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from students about their interactions with the current staff.

This transition will be completed before the fall semester. We expect the changeover to be smooth and students should not experience any disruption in services. If you have questions or need more information, contact the Dean of Students Office at deanstu@oberlin.edu.
