Originally from Numazu, Japan, Shogo Ishikawa graduated from Oberlin in June 2022 with Honors in History and a minor in French. As a student, he was involved with Barefoot Dialogue for all four years: as a participant for one year, and a facilitator for the next three. He is eager to work with the Oberlin community and invites anyone interested in dialogue to reach out to him to talk about Barefoot over a coffee or tea in Slow Train.
Shogo oversees all of the campus-based Barefoot Dialogue groups this year and collaborates with hosts, facilitators, and participants. He aims to build a close-knit community among student facilitators and participants who find ways to choose vulnerability in dialogue across diversity. In his free time, Shogo enjoys listening to different genres of music, writing his personal blog, and reading.
