Shelby Pykare serves as Senior Assistant Director for Career Readiness and Inclusive Excellence in the Career Development Center. In this role, she supports students in pursuit of their career interests and goals. She focuses on making the career advising process inclusive for all students, approaching all career readiness programs and events through a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens, and helping students integrate inclusive excellence into their professional experiences. She also leads the college’s Arts and Creative Professions Career Community and provides one-on-one career advising.

Prior to joining Oberlin, she worked in college admissions, specifically on multicultural student recruitment and diversity and inclusion work, and museums, where she focused on providing indigenous community members access to museum collections.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, travelling, and exploring all types of museums. She’s looking forward to helping Oberlin students build on their strong liberal arts foundation and navigating their professional journey.
